Tom puts on the Ritz
Playing at Burnham-on-sea: Some technical stuff from Tom (misterFunk), Harry's number one bass player
This gig was the first of our appearances to include the wonderful DX7 (technology has finally caught up with us) and it was neat to begin and end our set with the keyboard. We wus framed. A very good sound system - it managed my Notre Dame sound quite tastily and there was clarity in the old Rhodes tinkly bits too.
I enjoyed playing the bass, and it gave me added confidence to know that the signal was being fed to the desk through the DI socket - so I didn't need to worry about balance. Luckily I had sprayed the innards of my (thoroughly customised) bass with contact cleaner earlier in the day, so it behaved itself, stayed fruity and didn't fade away.
Really good vibe in the place: attentive and appreciative audience - great that someone shouted "brilliant" at the end of each song! Must give him a free button badge. Very fine to hear so many positive responses after the gig. Good atmosphere in the tour bus with the famous groupies. When are we back in Burnham (that could be our next song)?
Cathy says she got a fantastic buzz from it.
